The church
Hi There! This is our new style monthly newsletter. I hope you like it ! I'd welcome lots of feedback from you. What kind of content would you like in your monthly newsletter? What would be useful to you? What would help you? Please email any suggestions to me at newlightmcc@hotmail.com
There's a wonderful Spirit at New Light. I'm looking forward to our Retreat, and to Easter. There's a whole mass of amazing events afoot and I hope that you come and experience some of them for yourself. Some of them are still in the planning stages, like a concert with Ray Boltz, A Drum circle around a camp fire at the Universalist church site, an Easter revival service, and much much more! Watch this space.
I hope you have a wonderful week, and that God's blessings fill each of your days with the light of Christ's love.

Seminarian Colleen Foley returns
from successful missions trip.

It was wonderful to see Deacon Colleen at church on Sunday, and a real privilege to receive the wonderful gift that she brought back from Haiti for the church. Whenever we celebrate communion with this beautiful new altar cloth we will be reminded that we are connected to a people by one heart; the heart of Christ.
Colleen is planning to share all of her trip experiences with us later in the spring. In the mean time don't be afraid to talk to her about her experiences. She's got lots of stories to tell!

As you know, there's lots going on behind the scenes at New Light. The building team is waiting for one last proposal and then will be able to make recommendations around how we move forward. The Stewardship Team is looking at ways of increasing revenue and making our members more aware of all the amazing ways our money makes a difference in the community and the world. The Steering Committee is beginning to look at Vision and Mission statements, as well as our core values, to ensure that they reflect who we are as a community of God's people called to be our own particular part of the body of Christ. We may be a small church, but that doesn't mean that God isn't calling us to dream big!
I want to know what you think. I want to know what you need. I want to know how you see your church and what the church can do better. Please, click on the link and spend a few minutes filling out the attached questionnaire. Thank you!
Rev. Michael.

February at New Light MCC

Feb Calendar

light and shade

Ever been in a New Light retreat? Not like this one! This weekend retreat's theme is Light and Shade. Whatever your need, you'll find that there's something for you.

If you need to renew your relationship with God then spend some time lighting your path and deepening your faith. If you need to renew your relationship with self then spend a little time expressing yourself and relaxing in the shade.

Both relationship with God and relationship with self are important. We get out of balance, and one suffers. Do you need a weekend in the light, or the shade? Do you need a little of both?

We'll be using THE FIRST COMMANDMENT given by Jesus in Matthew 22:37 as a focus. During the weekend there will be worship and workshops that will help us look more deeply into what it means to love God with all of our heart, with all of our soul, and with all of our mind.

If your focus is renewing your strength in the light, then there are workshops designed to renew your faith and deepen your relationship with God.

If your focus is renewing your spirit in the shade of God's love then there are workshops designed to help you relax, renew your spirit, and reconnect with the essential self.

Of course, you are welcome to take light or shade focused workshops over the weekend as you wish, regardless of your focus.

The cost of the weekend is $115** per person. If this is your first New Light retreat, and the cost is beyond your reach, then some financial aid is available. Everyone is welcome, you do not have to be a New Light member to attend.Welcoming Place

Our 2012 retreat is being held at the 'MCC (Mennonite Central Committee) Welcoming Place'* is about 2 hours from Hagerstown. .

The weekend starts on Friday evening at 9pm with welcoming worship, and closes with Lunch on Sunday. All meals are provided Saturday thru Sunday - (breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday, breakfast and Lunch on Sunday). If you need a ride or can offer one then please let me know.
